Yoga Student Testimonials from over a Decade of Teaching Yoga for Everyone!
Anna B.- I have been attending Kates yoga classes both in person and on zoom for just over 10 years. I have also received wonderful relaxing massages from Kate. The fact that she is a massage therapist makes her an even better yoga instructor. Her yoga classes focus on stretching and balancing poses. So grateful for her caring and compassion and positive attitude and energy. Her classes lift me up. Thank you Kate!
Diane Stout- Super fantastic yoga teacher! Kate is always willing and able to suggest adjustments if there is a yoga pose that you can't manage. I have participated in both live and on-line classes. Highly recommend Kate!
Kathy Birch- excellent on line gentle yoga for older bodies. offers modifications on poses so one can feel successful/invigorated without push to injury.
Marie Brookman- Very relaxing Yoga class by Kate. She walks you through each pose - Holding stretches that improves flexibility - Every step is done with focus and mindfulness. Thank you Kate!
Angela Torres- I have been attending Kate’s yoga for several months. I always feel great after each session I attend. It’s gentle yoga, so anyone can participate, but she has variations of the moves for those in better shape or more advanced in yoga. I’m very happy we have a great yoga class in Battle Ground. I also love the space with it’s beautiful glass walls (especially when it rains outside).
Louise Harmon- I have been going to Kate’s Tuesday evening Gentle Flowing Yoga class since last year. I love that each class is different and that she offers modifications so everyone-students new to yoga, those with health or mobility challenges, and experienced students-all remain engaged. Kate always invites feedback and does truly listen to suggestions.
I also see Kate once a month for a deep tissue massage. She is an excellent massage therapist and has helped alleviate my chronic muscle stiffness and body aches.
Jean Longwill-I have taken Kate's in-person and zoom classes. All are excellent!
Kirk -I have taken Yoga classes from Kate for almost ten years. Over that time she has demonstrated her extensive knowledge of Yoga poses, especially ones geared to seated Yoga. She is gentle and considerate in her approach and directions. I highly recommend her and the Yoga classes she offers! I look forward to continued work with her.
Carol Brownwrigg-I have been taking yoga classes from Kate since 2015. Kate has a way of making you feel at ease and comfortable wherever you are in your yoga practice. When the pandemic started, she didn’t miss a beat in going to zoom classes and I have a new community of friends there every Wednesday. I had a pinched nerve in my back a few years ago. I asked her for some coaching on what stretches to do for it. After asking for more detail on my injury, she prepared a twenty minute video just for me! Grateful.
Joan Gay-I had knee, hip and shoulder pain for several years. I started taking Kate’s Chair Yoga class 4 years ago. I had always wanted to take a yoga class and was so happy to find her class. Kate’s class has improved my flexibility, strengthened my body and my range of motion! I can use her relaxation/ breathing techniques anytime of the day. Thank you, Kate
Tobias Andersen-About Kate’s Classes:I can bend completely at the waist to touch my toes. No effort. And I am 85.What else do you need to know? Kate has been my yoga instructor and dear friend for more years than I can recall. She’s a brilliant teacher, a first rate human being and you will benefit from each and every class that you take from her as I have.
Yvonne Brown- Thank you Kate for all the years of Gentle Yoga. It has meant the difference between a balanced, peace filled, healthy existence, and/or a time of struggle in my older age. I have the balance and energy of a 45-year-old and I’m 66. Here’s to many more years together.
Barbara N.- I woke up this morning feeling soooo damn good. I attribute my wonderful feelings to yoga. Here is my small list of what yoga under Kate’s guidance has done for me: Yoga has helped stall my emerging incontinence. Yoga has helped increase my happiness and positive outlook on life in general. Yoga has certainly improved my strength in my upper body and legs. Yoga has helped me to clam down when I am too excited. Yoga has helped me sleep more soundly. Yoga has helped my memory improve. Yoga has helped my balance. Thank you Kate for your patience and for your guidance in bringing me along the Yoga path.
Kitty- My weekly Gentle Flowing Yoga classes taught by Kate Baldwin are the self-care and quality of life gift I give to myself. This wonderful wellness and mindfulness practice of guided gentle stretching and breathwork has greatly enhanced my body’s health and stamina and my inner awareness. I also enjoy the practice through connection with others in our yoga community. I am so grateful for our outstanding yoga practitioner, Kate, and how fully she gives of herself and her talents to others on the wellness journey.
Steve- Kate’s Gentle Yoga classes are wonderful. They’re not too athletic for my 70 year old body, and we work on balance with single leg movements every week. Falling is the most common cause of injuries in folks over 65, and improving balance is key to remaining upright during common, everyday activities.
Sheila McEvoy-For the last ten years I have been a student of Kate’s Yoga following her in person and now on Zoom. She is an inspired and dedicated teacher. Her classes are always a joy, upbeat, professional, non-judgmental and compassionate.
Jeanne Schapp- I have been practicing yoga with Kate Baldwin for several years now. I latched on to Kate before the Pandemic when she was teaching weekly Gentle Vinyasa and Chair Yoga classes at Yoga Union in Portland, OR. Kate is a kind, experienced and knowledgeable instructor. As an older person, Kate's classes suited my needs. With arrival of the Pandemic, Kate switched to virtual classes, and I've been taking those classes with Kate for the past 2.5 years. Kate has known some of her students for a very long time, and she has a very loyal following, myself included. Kate's classes are stimulating and creative. There is a variety of movements, both easy and some challenging -- especially regarding coordination and balance. She very often tells us stories about her day or adventures, travels, hikes, etc., often telling us how to incorporate Yoga into our daily lives. It is clear that Kate enjoys what she is doing and she exudes a sense of calm with a heavy dose of purpose and positivity. In some ways, I see Kate as a Life Coach. My Yoga ritual with Kate keeps me on a positive track. I always feel energized when I finish one of Kate's classes...ready for my next task of the day. Also, a huge bonus is that Kate's students have access to her library of past (how many?) Yoga classes, which we can access if we miss a class or want to practice more often. I love that.
Gail Luciani-Kate’s yoga classes are the best, whether in person or on Zoom! Love her 20-minute videos, too!
Jade- Attending chair based yoga with Kate has been a rewarding experience. The stretching we do has made me more flexible and my balance has improved. When I started her classes many years ago I had a lot of trouble getting up off of the floor, not so any more. I can get up with ease and confidence now which is pretty outstanding for a 90 year old female. I am still attending yoga classes with Kate thru zoom on a weekly basis.
Mary Day-Kate’s yoga classes are amazing. My flexibility has definitely benefited from her guidance.
Olga & Bob- We began taking Yoga lessons mainly because we wanted to strengthen our balance. It has helped us in doing that. Also, just this past week I have noticed that after doing yoga I feel so much better and easier to move my body. Before this I did not feel much except a great tiredness. For sure, I have been way out of shape physically for a long, long time. So from when we began taking Yoga (this past summer), until this past week when I could feel such a difference, it has been a long hard road for me. But it has finally paid off for me and has been worth the effort. I’m glad I stayed with it. Thanks to Bob for getting me there. Mostly Thanks to Kate’s “Yoga For Everyone”.
Linda R.- Hi Kate, I want to thank you for the great stretches tonight. I always feel so great after class, and tonight is no exception. My hip has been bothering me a lot and now it feels so happy!
Judith- Sciatica symptoms are gone. Some feedback for you--my aches and pains are very much subsiding from when I first joined the class. All my thanks to you for creating such a heartful and safe space for everyone and for sharing all your learnings as you and we grow. " Thank you" doesn't really express the gratitude I feel!
Ashle D.- I just want to thank you again for being our yoga teacher. You are such an inspiration to me. It is easy to become a yoga "freak." I simply love it. My balance is getting a little better, and limbs a little looser. Yoga has become one of the most meaningful activities of my life. Posture greatly improved. Knitting on all size needles because of finger & wrist exercises. Stronger bones & muscles. More flexibility & agility. More energy. Wrist surgery no longer necessary due to decreased pain & increased range of motion. Helps entering into meditation...dropping into the zone more quickly.
Shirley F.- Benefits of Kate’s yoga classes: Increased range of motion in all of my joints; increased flexibility; increased muscle tone & strength (Trimmer in my waistline without weight loss too); improved balance (I think this is due a great deal to being able to grip my hammer toes for the first time in my life.) A sense of well being and peace after each class & home practice. Relaxation of mind, body & spirit yet a heightened sense of awareness. Sleeping better on nights after yoga class. Fall asleep more easily and sleep more soundly-not my usual sleep pattern. Most classes I experience decreased pain & fatigue.
Lily- I'm planning on coming back to yoga soon! I've missed it, and definitely felt better even in the short time I did the class. Thanks!
Joanne- Since starting yoga with Kate I have more patience waiting for the bus, & in line at the grocery store.
Steve N.-I used to have problems with pain in my feet, especially first thing in the morning, after sleeping. My doctor said to get some orthotics for my shoes, but that didn't help at all. When I started doing Yoga, things began improving, until I could walk as much as I like, pain free. I'm a radio announcer and have to read copy on the air. I always do my 10-minute Yoga warm up (neck rolls, shoulder rolls, side bends, twists, and forward folds) before my shift, usually in the hallway while I'm waiting for my shift to start. It really makes a difference in my reading. It clears my mind, calms me down, flushes out my lungs and vocal passages, loosens up my whole upper body so I can sit up super straight and annunciate. You wouldn't think it would make a difference, but it does.
Andy S.- Benefits of Kate’s yoga classes: Increased awareness of physical habits/patterns like starting to go down the stairs leading with the same side of the body every time. More patience when conversations get heated.
